Ralph W. Pearson, 82 of Birmingham, formerly of Batavia, died July 27, 2011 at home.
Per his wishes, his body has been cremated and no services are planned.

Ralph was born February 26, 1929 in rural Selma to Ray and Mildred Sellers Pearson. He married Carmen Mathes on September 28, 1954 in Iowa City.
Ralph graduated from the Libertyville High School in 1947 and served in the Navy during the Korean War. He owned and operated the Pearson Mercantile in Batavia for several years. Later he was a butcher at the Packwood locker. He also enjoyed farming at his home in rural Birmingham.
Survivors include his wife: Carmen; 3 children: Ralph (Wendy) of Birmingham, Jeffrey (Rose) of Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania and Teresa of New Albany, Indiana; 3 grandchildren: Andy, Stacie and Michael; 4 great-grandchildren: Katie, Cody, Gage and Gavin; 4 brothers: John of Batavia, Roscoe (Glenda) of Wellman, David of Agency and George (Patty) of Eldon; 2 sisters: Judy (Leon) Wilkinson of Bloomfield and Evy Harris of Hedrick and 1 sister-in-law: Betty of Bloomfield.
He was preceded in death by his parents; 4 sisters: Doris, Josephine, Chloe and Margaret and 1 brother: Jim.
