Raymond Nuby Smith

Raymond Nuby Smith, age 73 of Birmingham, passed away Friday, September 14, 2012 at the Jefferson County Hospital.

Visitation for family and friends will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, September 19, 2012 at Behner Funeral Home.

Burial of cremains will be at a later date.

Raymond was born on January 22, 1939 near Stockport, to Henry Warren and Waunita Maxine Loving Smith. He married Gloria Ann Ertz on January 1, 1967 in West Burlington and they later divorced.

He had worked for Burlington Northern Santa Fe for 26 years as a machinist. He enjoyed woodworking and fishing with his grandchildren.

Raymond is survived by 3 children: Timothy Warren Smith of Stockport, Teri Lynn Smith of Council Bluffs and Daniel Nuby Smith of Burlington, 4 grandchildren: Dakota Lee Roe, Nickolas James Roe, Jaren Michael Roe and David Lee Schreiber and 4 siblings: Richard H. Smith of Stockport, Doris D. Schilb of Fairfield, Roxie E. Smith of Buffalo and Roger D. Smith of Augusta.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
