Richard 'Dick' William Bruey

Richard 'Dick' W. Bruey, age 86, of Fairfield, IA, passed away Monday, August 3, 2009 at Jefferson County Health Center in Fairfield.

Visitation with the family will be held 6:30 to 8:00 PM, Friday, August 7, 2009 at Behner Funeral Home in Fairfield.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM, Saturday, August 8th at the funeral home with words of comfort offered by Steve Heston. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery.

Richard William 'Dick' Bruey was born April 5, 1923 in Fairfield, IA to Frank and Maggie Irene (Crowner) Bruey. He was united in marriage with Bettye Stark on November 21, 1943. She preceded him in death October 24, 2004.

Dick was a lifelong farmer and carpenter. He loved woodworking, enjoyed hunting and fishing, and regularly attended the Webber Coffee Club. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

Surviving Dick is his daughter, Sandy Nelson and her husband Jerry, and their family: grandchildren Amy (Kelly) Burkhart, Mindy (Brent) Hoskins, Rich (Amy) Teeter, and Julie Nelson; and great-grandchildren: Jolea, Konnor & Dain Burkhart; Hunter, Lily & Bode Hoskins; and Jack, Ella & Lucy Teeter. Survivors include a sister, Juanita James of Oroville, CA, and good friend Betty Williams.

In addition to his parents and wife, Bettye, Dick was preceded in death by his daughter Judy Bruey, son-in-law Paul Teeter, granddaughter Jolene Nelson and sister, Ferne Burk.
