Richard Lee Jones

Richard Lee Jones, age 66, of Fairfield passed away Thursday October 10, 2013 at the University of Iowa Hospital & Clinics in Iowa City, Ia.

Funeral Services will be 10:30 a.m. October 17, 2013 at Behner Funeral Home with Pastor Todd Holman officiating. Cremation to follow service. Burial of cremains at a later date in Pittsburg Cemetery.

Visitation for family and friends will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday October 16, 2013 with military rites at 6:00 pm. at Behner Funeral Home in Fairfield.

Richard Lee Jones was born June 7, 1947 to Hubert Edward and Hazel Ewing Jones in Fairfield, Iowa. He married Rebecca Franklin on October 21, 1989.

Richard was a life long resident Fairfield, graduating from Fairfield High School class of 1965. He worked for Burlington Northern Railroad for some years, He also worked at Dextor Foundry as a core boarder cleaner for 26 years. Richards memberships and hobbies include being a lifetime member of VFW post #2271, American Legion post # 47,Richard was an avid Nascar fan, he did latch hook rugs, enjoyed reading, and playing computer games. He served in the US army during Vietnam serving two terms as company clerk.

Richard is survived by his wife Rebecca Jones of Fairfield, 1 daughter and 1 son and families; Wendie (Larry) Conner of Winfield, Ia., John (Sarah) Hand of Columbus City, Ia. 2 grandchildren Gavin Conner, and Atlie Hand, 2 brothers and 1 sister: Bob (Pat) Jones of Guttenberg,Ia., Sharon Ewing of Fairfield, Mike (Melinda) Jones of Redwing Mn., many nieces and nephews.

Richard was preceded by his parents, 1 sister Carol Miksch.
