He liked playing the guitar and singing country music. He also enjoyed his grandchildren.

Richard is survived by 1 daughter: Kimberly Brown of Cassville, Mo., 2 grandchildren: Trenton Cash Brown and Madison Claire Brown and 6 siblings: Nancy Franklin of Keosauqua, Sue Fischer of Fairfield, William Canaday of Ottumwa, Marcia Kelly of Keosauqua, Michael Canaday of Stockport and Judy McCarty of Colorado Springs, Co.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 brother: Robert Canaday and 1 sister: Donna Wilcoxson.
