Robert E. "Bob" Carter

Robert Eugene “Bob” Carter, 90, formerly of Ollie, Iowa, died Monday, August 7, 2023 at Manor House Care Center in Sigourney, Iowa.

Bob was born August 4, 1933 in Ollie, to parents Alva and Lolita (Estes) Carter. He married Thelma Lyden February 20, 1959 at First Lutheran Church in Fairfield. They later divorced.

Bob worked as a heavy equipment operator for International Union of Operating Engineers Local 150 until 1995. After retirement, he continued working on farms and for Neff Construction until 2019.  He enjoyed showing hogs at the state fair; he loved horses, and John Deere tractors.

Those left to honor his memory include his sons, Bobby (Chris) Carter of Ollie, and Jerry (Tammy) Carter of Palo, Iowa; grandchildren, Kathy Heisdorffer, Tim (Karen) Sampson, James Carter, and Jake Carter; and great-grandchildren, Ava and Zoe Heisdorffer and Hailey and Liam Sampson; and many nieces and nephews.

Bob was proceeded in death by his parents, his brothers, Marvin and Dean, his sisters, Madelyn and Shirley, and his grandson-in-law, Josh Heisdorffer.

Funeral services celebrating his life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 16, 2023 at Prairie View Church in Ollie. Burial will be at Ollie Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 9:30-11 a.m. Wednesday at the church. Memorials may be made to the Ollie Fire Department or Prairie View Church. Behner Funeral Home in Fairfield is assisting the family with arrangements.
