Robert Edward Denney

Robert Edward Denney age 98, of Richland, passed away Monday, May 28, 2018, at Keosauqua Health Care Center.

Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 2, 2018, at Behner Funeral Home with Pastor John Kermott officiating.  Burial with Military Honors will be at Maple Hill Cemetery.  Visitation for family & friends will be Friday, June 1, 2018, from 6:00 pm-8:00 pm with the family present at the Behner Funeral Home.

Robert was born January 28, 1920, to Jesse and Eunice (Goepel) Denney in rural Libertyville. Robert married Alma Jones and they later divorced.  He married Lydia Ives and she passed away.

Robert served in the Air Force during WW II. He was in the Pacific Campaign, Iwo Jima and Sipan.  He lived in the Fairfield Community for 58 years.  Robert worked at John Deere as a welder for 28 years.  In 1983 after he retired he moved to North Carolina. Robert liked to trout fish, garden, planting fruit and nut trees, watching Fox T.V. News, Nascar racing, wood working and spending time with family and friends.

Left to share Roberts memories are his children, Richard Denney of Fairfield, Wesley (Lisa) Denney of Shelby, NC, Shirley (Doug) Arnaman of Burlington, IA and Dianne Payne of Raleigh, NC, two step children, Debi Cowder of Alaska and Dennis Ives of Mt. Home, AR; 9 grandchildren, Philip (Janet) Denney, Erica Christe, Shane (Brandy) Christe, Rebecca (Jon) Miller, Cassandra (Ryan) Bolz, Jason Denney, Katie Payne, David Advent and Nicholas Payne; and 10 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse and Eunice Denney; his wife Lydia; one son, Phil Denney; one daughter, Ava Denney; and one stepson, Doug Ives; 3 brothers Clarence, Lawrence and Orville; 1 sister Leatha Woolverton.
