Ruth Denney

Ruth Denney, age 92, passed away Monday, October 13, 2014 at Sunnybrook Living Care Center, Fairfield, IA.

Per her wishes the body has been cremated.

There will be a private family memorial service and burial of cremains at a later date at Batavia Cemetery, Batavia, IA.

Ruth was born August 11, 1922 to William and Bertha (Stine) Cooksey in Keosauqua, IA. She married Clarence Denney July 22, 1938 in Memphis, MO. They celebrated 75 years of marriage before he passed away November 1, 2013.

She worked at the Jefferson County Hospital in housekeeping and later became a Certified Nurses Aid. One of her dreams was to become a registered nurse; which she had seen fulfilled in the lives of her granddaughter and great granddaughter. Ruth attended the Faith Baptist Church. She loved to spend time with family and friends. Ruth enjoyed reading, going for drives and embroidering.

Ruth is survived by 3 daughters and 1 son and families, Carolyn Black of Dallas Center, IA., Brenda (Fred) Everett of Brighton, IA., David (Vera) Denney of Stockport, IA., Pat (B.R.) Poole of Stockport, IA; 10 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Clarence Denney; 3 brothers, Raymond, Merrill and W. Lyle Cooksey; two sisters, Amy Dougherty and Marcene Gill; 1 son–in–law; and one great grandson infancy.
