S. Lorraine Crane

August 30, 1924 — October 9, 2012

S. Lorraine Crane age 88, formerly of Lockridge, passed away Tuesday, October 9, 2012 at Arbor Court in Mt. Pleasant.

Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, October 13, 2012 at Lockridge Cemetery with Pastor Stacy Grau officiating.

Visitation for family and friends will be held from 7-9 p.m. Friday, October 12, 2012 at Behner Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of Central Iowa. Cards and memorials can be sent to Curt Crane at 2606 West Highland Lane, Mt. Pleasant, Iowa 52641.

Lorraine was born on August 30, 1924 in Mt. Pleasant, to James Hollis and Ruby Forbes Pitzer. She married Vincent Emery Crane on August 30, 1941 in St. Louis, Missouri.

From 1961-1973, she was Alumni Secretary at Iowa Wesleyan College in Mt. Pleasant, 1973-1985, Co-owner of Cranes TV Sales and Service in Mt. Pleasant, 1986-1989 she worked at Sprueill Printing Inc. in Dallas Texas and 1989-1993 worked at Communicorp Inc. in Atlanta, Georgia. After retiring from Communicorp Inc., she resided in Sandwich, Illinois. Lorraine and her husband owned and operated Crane's Service Station in Lockridge, until his death in 1984. She also owned and taught classes at The Claybird Ceramic Shop for several years. She enjoyed traveling, the computer, reading, crossword puzzles, handicrafts, cooking and writing poetry, with several pieces being published. She was a member of the Lutheran Church and was former VFW Auxiliary.

Lorraine is survived by 2 sons: Calvin Lee Crane of Alpharetta, Georgia and Curt Scott (Barbara Kinney) Crane of Mt. Pleasant, 5 grandchildren: Sara (Jeff) Crane Askvig of Des Moines, Andrew Crane of Mt. Pleasant, Scott Crane of New Orleans, Louisiana, Judson (Laura) Crane of Savannah, Georgia and Jordan Crane of Los Angeles, California, 6 great-grandchildren: Garin, Morgan and Halaina Crane of Mt. Pleasant, Claire and Stella Crane of Savannah, Georgia and Landrey Elizabeth Askvig of Des Moines, 2 daughters-in-laws: Sharon Foster Crane of New Orleans, Louisiana and Patti Couch Crane of Alpharetta, Georgia, 1 sister: Kathleen (Edwin) Kennedy of Yorkville, Illinois, 1 brother: James (Marilyn) Pitzer of Prescott Valley, Arizona and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son: V. Kipp and grandson: Ryan Jacob.
