Saundra Joan Bloomquist

Saundra Joan Bartholow Bloomquist, age 72 of Fairfield, passed away Wednesday, November 7, 2012 at Sunny Brook Living Care Center.

Visitation for family and friends will be held from 1:00 - 2:00 p.m. Saturday, November 10, 2012 at Behner Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, November 10, 2012 at Behner Funeral Home with Pastor Keevin Koch officiating. Burial will be in Wright Cemetery.

Saundra was born on August 14, 1940 in Fairfield to George Lavern and Margaret Courtney Bartholow. She married Louie Bloomquist on June 1, 1958 at the First Christian Church in Fairfield.

She started college at age 54 and was on the Dean's List throughout her college years. She received her Bachelor's Degree from Buena Vista University and also received degrees from Southeastern and Indian Hills Community Colleges. Saundra was a Para Professional at Fairfield Middle School and she owned and operated two gift and gold stores: one in Wapello and one in the Muscatine Mall.

Saundra is survived by 4 children: Terry (Ellen) Bloomquist of Cedar Rapids, Rob (Corinne) Bloomquist of Exline, Randy (Theresa) Bloomquist of Linwood, Nebraska and Traci (Darryl) Lott of Niota, Illinois, 9 grandchildren: Mitch (Regan) Bloomquist, Stevee (Blake) Tiernan, Lindsey Bloomquist, Travis Bloomquist, Sarai Bloomquist, Emily (Alex) Schnell, Kevin (Kristan) Harris, Nathan (Courtney) Harris and Nicolas Bloomquist, 7 grand dogs, 17 great-grandchildren, 1 sister: Karen Bartholow of Denver, Colorado and 1 sister-in-law: Kerry Bartholow of Las Vegas, Nevada.

She was preceded in death by her parents: George and Margaret Bartholow and 1 brother: Richard Bartholow.
