Shirley Ann Hertel

Shirley Ann Hertel age, 84 of Fairfield, passed away June 2, 2011 at her home.

Funeral Services are 10:30 a.m. Wednesday June 8, 2011 at Behner Funeral Home with Rev. Nate Nims officiating. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery in Fairfield.

Visitation for Family and Friends will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday June 7, 2011 at Behner Funeral Home.

Memorials can be made to American Cancer Society or to the First United Methodist Church, and sent to 305 Wilson Blvd. Fairfield, Iowa.

Shirley Ann Hertel was born February 5, 1927 to Clarence and Edna Nordgren Courtney in Chicago, Illinois. She married Charles Hertel on June 6, 1947.

Shirley has lived in the Fairfield area for 75 years, she graduated from Fairfield High School Class of 1944. Shirley worked as secretary to
advisors at Parson college from 1961- 1973, she then worked as a teller for First National Bank from 1973 to 1987 and retired. She was a member of Order of Eastern Star, VFW ladies Auxillary, and on the State Womens Bowling Board ( IWBA) and a member of First United Methodist Church.

Shirley is survived by her husband Charles Hertel of Fairfield, 1 Son William R. (Chris) Hertel of Gilbert, AZ., and 1 Daughter Janice (Larry) Wilson of Gilbert, Az.. 4 grandchildren Jason Hertel, Wade Wilson, Kent Wilson, Kelly (Wilson) Runyon, and 2 great grandchildren. One Sister Marilyn Jungman of Gold Canyon,AZ.

Shirley was preceded in death by her Parents, 2 brothers William and Robert Courtney.
