Shirley Mae Nelson

Shirley Mae Nelson, age 73, passed away January 9, 2011 at Good Sam's in Keosauqua, Iowa.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, January 13, 2011 at St. Mary's Catholic Church with Father Stephen C. Page officiating. According to Shirley's wishes, the casket will be closed. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.

Visitation for family and friends will be from 9:15 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Thursday, January 13, 2011 at St. Mary's Catholic Church.

Shirley was born October 10, 1937 in Martinsburg, Iowa to Roy and Betty Davis Black. She married Robert Nelson on June 9, 1962 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Fairfield.

She was affiliated with the Eagles and VFW ladies' auxiliary and was a former member of St. Mary's Altar and Rosary Society.

Shirley is survived by her husband, 2 children: Roy (Rhonda) Nelson of Chariton, Iowa and Betty (Jeremy) Howard of Libertyville, Iowa, 6 grandchildren: Rose Nelson, Amanda Dunphy, Kaye Nelson, Emma Nelson, Turner Howard and Sydney Howard and 3 step-grandchildren: Josh Perkins, Tyler Perkins and Kassie Howard.

She was preceded in death by her parents and 1 sister.
