Shirley Jean Simmons

Shirley J. Simmons, age 73 of 907 W. Stone, Fairfield, Iowa passed away February 23, 2010 at her home.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, February 26, 2010, with family visitation starting at 9:30 a.m. at Behner Funeral Home in Fairfield, Iowa with Pastor Jerry Phillips officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery in Fairfield, Iowa.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Parkinson's Foundation. Cards and memorials may be sent to Sheryl Brady at 907 W. Stone St. Fairfield, Iowa 52556.

Shirley Jean Simmons was born October 19, 1936 to Charles and Nina Marie Barnett Ellis in Buchanan Township in Jefferson County. She married James E. Simmons on September 2, 1954 in Fairfield, Iowa. He died July 11, 1987.

Shirley was a homemaker and lived in the community for the last 60 years and enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She also liked crocheting, cooking and baking.

Shirley is survived by her four children, Danny (Terry) Simmons of Farson, Sheryl (Robert) Brady of Fairfield, Charles (Kim) Simmons of Fairfield and Tina (Mike) Whitworth of Wylie, Texas, 8 grandchildren, Kelly Lopez Perez, Samantha Brush, James Simmons, Steven Duwe, CJ Simmons, Adrianne Simmons, Eli Simmons and Michelle Henderson, 6 great grandchildren Michael Brush, Tiffani Brush, Averi Henderson, Ella Henderson, Michael Ennen and Alexandria Ennen, 1 brother Donald Ellis and 1 sister Frances Duwe, both of Fairfield.

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
