Stephen Douglas Holmes age 63, of Jefferson City, Mo. Passed away May 3, 2013 at Blessings Hospital in Quincy, IL.
A Graveside service will be 4:00 p.m. Monday, May 6, 2013 at Evergreen Cemetery with Pastor Joseph Phipps Officiating. With burial to follow.
No Visitation is planned.

Stephen was born August 20, 1949 in Fairfield, Ia. to George Merlin, and Norma Teller Holmes. He married Debra Joann Wisdom on June 27, 1973 in Fairfield, Ia.
Stephen graduated from Fairfield High School class of 1967, where he played basketball and was in the band. He continued his education and graduated from SE Iowa Community college, and attended NE Missouri State in Kirksville, Mo. Stephen received the God and Country Award from Boy Scouts, and was Master Counselor of DeMolay. He started his 39 year long career with the phone company by cleaning phone booths. He loved being an urban farmer; he enjoyed his horses, and dogs. He continued playing basketball in different leagues. Stephen has lived in the Jefferson City area since 1974. He was a member of the IBEW Union.
Stephen is survived by his wife Debra Holmes of Jefferson City, Mo., 1 son Trenton J. Holmes of Jefferson, City, Mo. Mother Norma Holmes of Fairfield, Ia. 1 sister Mary (Dick) Reed of Fairfield, Ia. Nieces and Nephews.
Stephen was preceded in death by his Father George Holmes, and his grandparents.
Behner Funeral Home & Crematory was in charge of arrangements.
