Steven A. Hisel

Steven A. Hisel, age 60, of Richland, passed away December 12, 2010 at Jefferson County Health Center in Fairfield.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, December 16, 2010 at Behner Funeral Home with Pastor Frosty Van Voorst officiating.

Family visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, December 15, 2010 at Behner Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Fairfield Public Library or Trojan Booster Club. Cards and memorials can be sent to 2007 110th St. Richland, Iowa 52585.

Steven was born on August 20, 1950 to Glen Ivan and Berniece Helen Brereton Hisel, in Fairfield. He married Janiece Vittetoe in Fairfield on July 6, 1974.

Steven has lived all of his life in the area, farmed with his dad southeast of Fairfield and drove a bus for the Fairfield Community School District for 18 A½ years. Steven was a supporter of Iowa State University athletics and Fairfield Trojan volleyball. He also enjoyed gardening, bird watching, canoeing and spending time with his family. He was a member of Woolson Friends Church of rural Richland.

Steven is survived by his wife, 3 daughters: Lisa (Cliff) Duff of Ottumwa, Iowa, Jodi (Brian) Kennedy of Riverside, Iowa and Juli Hisel of Richland, Iowa, 3 grandchildren: McKenna Duff, Madison Duff and Macy Duff, 6 siblings: Mildred Ferguson of Keosauqua, Iowa, Gerald (Delores) Hisel of Minnesota, Ruby (Denis) Staples of Wisconsin, Thelma Hill of Wisconsin, Helen (Jon) Walraven of Ottumwa, Iowa and Jerry Maxwell of Connecticut and 1 brother-in-law: Jerard Hoage of Fairfield, Iowa.

Steven was preceded in death by his parents and 2 sisters: Donna Jean Maxwell and Ilene Hoage.
