Steven B. Pool

            Steven Brian Pool, 63, a resident of Fairfield, passed away Thursday, November 9, 2023 at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City after a long battle with amyloidosis.

            A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Burial will be at Maple Hill Cemetery in Birmingham. Memorials may be made to the family. Behner Funeral Home in Fairfield is assisting the family with arrangements.

            Steve was born January 30, 1960 in Lawton, Oklahoma, the son of Delbert and Maxine (Salts) Pool. He married Sheila Shoemaker, May 10, 1986 in Birmingham.

            Steve worked for Dexter Foundry for 15 years. He enjoyed watching football and baseball. Family was at the center of Steve’s life and he cherished his time with them. Over the past several years it became more and more difficult for him to move on his own. He never complained. Instead, he vehemently enjoyed every minute with his loved ones.

            Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Sheila; son Danen (Daniell McEvoy) Pool of Ames; granddaughter, Layla Pool; father, Delbert Pool of Texas; sister, Sue Pool; and siblings Audra, Roger, and Joel.

            He was preceded in death by his mother and grandmother, Ora Salts who helped raise him.
