Susan Ruth Wilk (nee Frank) gracefully left her body Monday afternoon, January 10, 2005 at 3:12 pm at Jefferson County Hospital.
A memorial service was held Sunday January 16, 2005, at 1:30 PM in the Dreier Building, Room #3 on the Maharishi University Management Campus.
Susan was born in Gauting, near Munich, Germany on January 20, 1915, the daughter of Paul and Elsa (Hetzberg) Frankl. She married writer and lawyer Gerhard H. Wilk February 16, 1949 in New York City. He died August 31, 1990.
Susan had a creative and full life. She studied fashion design and designed womens' and girls' garments in Rome, Denmark, Sweden and New York City. After completing her BS (Music) in 1974 at Hunter College in 1972 and he MA (Music) in 1974 in Queens College in New York, she taught piano and recorder.
Susan moved to Fairfield in 1995 and built her own solar-powered timberframe house on Kiowa Lane.
She contributed several short stories to the recently published book, "Being Our Own Heroes."
Survivors include her daughter Jane Schmidt-Wilk and husband Martin; sister Johanna Kulbach; nieces Lisle Kulbach, Brigida Pesce, Rosemarie Cardarello; nephew Paulo Frankl, and step- grandson Manuel Werning.
Susan was preceded in death by her husband, parents; two brothers, Wolfgang and Peter Frankl; and a sister, Regula (Heka) Frankl Davis.
