Suzanne Chezum

Suzanne Chezum, age 87, of Fairfield, formerly of Birmingham, passed away Friday, September 7, 2007 at Nelson Nursing Home in Fairfield.

Funeral services were held 10:00 AM, Saturday, September 15, 2007 at Behner Funeral Home in Fairfield with Rev. Dave Peterson officiating. Intement followed in Maple Hill Cemetery in Birmingham.

Suzanne Chezum was born in Birmingham, IA January 19, 1920 to Iliff and Grace (Tweedy) Brobston. She lived most of her life in Jefferson County, and was united in marriage with Harry LeRoy Chezum October 2, 1936 in Fairfield. They are the parents of three children: Joe, Allen, and Steve. Harry passed away January 12, 1987.

Mrs. Chezum was a devoted wife, mother, and homemaker, as well as a member of the Baptist Church.

She is survived by her sons and their families: Joe Chezum and wife Peggy of Iowa City, IA, Allen Chezum and wife Suzie of Des Moines, IA, and Steve Chezum of Rockaway, NY. Survivors include nine grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and one brother, William (Bill) Brobston of New London, IA.

Mrs. Chezum was preceded in death by her parents, husband, five sisters and one brother: Betty Reynolds, Mavis Listebarger, Dorothy Winfrey, Lola Reynolds, Mildred Heston, and Richard Brobston.
