Thomas Donald Carr, age 81, of Fairfield, passed away Wednesday morning, September 20, 2006 at Parkview Care Center in Fairfield.

***** OPEN VISITATION WILL BEGIN MONDAY ONLY, SEPTEMBER 25, 2006 AT 9:OO AM *****

Family visitation will begin at 6:00 PM, Monday, September 25, 2006 at Behner Funeral Home with Rosary recitation by The Knights of Columbus, followed by Prayers for a Christian Wake.

Funeral services will be conducted by his nephew, Fr. Michael Carr, and Fr. Stephen Page at 10:00 AM, Tuesday, September 26, 2006 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Fairfield.

Interment in St. Mary Cemetery in Albia, Iowa, will follow the funeral luncheon.

Memorials may be made to St. Mary Catholic Church in Fairfield.

Thomas Donald Carr was born November 17, 1924, in Melrose, IA, the son of William Henry and Frances (Walsh) Carr. Mr. Carr was a graduate of Albia High School, and he was a resident of Albia for several years before moving to Fairfield. Mr. Carr married Loretta Hunter on March 7, 1980 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Fairfield.

Mr. Carr was an equipment operator for the Iowa Department of Transportation for 33 years before retiring in 1986.

Mr. Carr was a 50-year member of the Knights of Columbus, as well as a parishioner of St. Mary Roman Catholic Church in Fairfield.

Mr. Carr is survived by his wife, Loretta of Fairfield and one sister, Marie Stufflebeam of Centerville, IA. Survivors include three step-sons: Monte (Elizabeth) Hunter of rural Fairfield, Jeffrey (Patti) Hunter of Mt. Pleasant and Randall Hunter, also of Mt. Pleasant, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Mr. Carr was preceded in death by his parents, one sister: Rita Sulentic and three brothers: Raymond, Patrick and Charles Carr.
