Velma Lorraine Droz Coleman, age 82 of Birmingham, passed away Thursday, April 26, 2012 at Jefferson County Health Center.
A private Memorial Service will be held at a later date. The body has been cremated.
Visitation will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, May 1, 2012 at Behner Funeral Home.

Velma was born on March 9, 1930 in Fairfield, to Lawrence and Pehna Viles Droz. She married Gene L. Coleman on May 1, 1966.
She lived her whole life in the Jefferson and Van Buren County area. She worked as a waitress at Woody's Steak House, helped her family haul coal and at the Army Ammunition Ordinance Plant. Her hobbies were being the family historian, writing poetry, gardening, animals and photography.
Velma is survived by 5 children: Lyle Hawk of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Kathleen Hawk of Ottumwa, Jeri Rowland of Fairfield, Bobi Gardner of Katy, Texas and Dena Headley of Batavia, 5 grandchildren: Jason Rowland, Wyatt Rowland, Joshua Gardner, Jordan Gardner and Jodi O'Dell and 4 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, 8 siblings: Jack Droz, Perry Droz, Dick Droz, Clifford "Frog" Droz, Mary Mitchel, Marshall Droz, Louise White and Mary Belle Bradley, 1 half-brother: John Droz and 1 half-sister: Clara Droz
