Velma "Lucille" Giberson Godwin

Velma “Lucille” (Pencil) Giberson Godwin, age 84 of Fairfield, passed away Monday, March 6, 2017 at Parkview Care Center.

Visitation for family & friends will be 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm, Wednesday, March 8, 2017 at Behner Funeral Home.

Funeral Service will be 10:00 am, Thursday, March 9, 2017 at First Lutheran Church with Pastor Greg Friedrich officiating. Burial will be at Spencer Cemetery, Stockport IA.

Lucille was born April 29, 1932 in rural Packwood, IA to Oscar H. and Velma L. (Wood) Pencil. She married William Dwane Giberson July 15, 1950 in Fairfield, IA. They celebrated 45 years of marriage before he passed away December 24, 1995. Lucille later married Rex Godwin April 25, 1997.

Lucille lived in the Fairfield area all her life. She loved working in her flower or vegetable garden. Lucille enjoyed playing Mrs. Claus, square dancing, traveling, but most of all spending time with family & friends.

Lucille is survived by her husband, Rex Godwin of Fairfield, IA; her daughter, Cathy Giberson of Fairfield, IA; 5 stepchildren, Ron (Donita) Godwin of Casa Grande, AZ, Don (Ann) Godwin of Fairfield, IA, Ben (Lynn) Godwin of Libertyville, IA; Amy Kessel of Keosauqua, IA, and John (Sarah) Godwin of Libertyville, IA; and step son-in-law, Shannon (Konia) Fries of Murdock, NE; 18 step grandchildren; 9 step great grandchildren; and two brothers, Keith (Mary) Pencil of Libertyville, IA and Larry Pencil of Birmingham, IA; a special friend of the family, Bonnie McCarty.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Oscar and Velma Pencil; her husband, Dwane Giberson; one step daughter, Angie Fries.
