Verl V. Koch age 83, of Fairfield, passed away April 18, 2010 at SunnyBrook Assisted Living in Fairfield.

Memorial services are at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday April 21, 2010 at the First Presbyterian Church with Pastor Joseph Phipps officiating. Burial of cremains will be in Evergreen cemetery.

A masonic service will be at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday with visitation to follow till 11:00.

In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to Hospice Compassus or SunnyBrook Assisted Living.

Cards and memorials can be sent to 2310 Walton Lake Dr. Fairfield, Iowa 52556. According to his wishes the body has been cremated.

Verl V. Koch was born June 25, 1926 in Fairfield to Verl V. and Orel Smith Koch. He was raised in the Germanville area Southeast of Brighton, Ia. He graduated from Brighton High School class of 1943. Verl married Maxine Rowell on September 6, 1953 in Ottumwa, Ia. She preceded him on October 31, 2002.

Verl served in the Army Chemical Corps during the Korean war. He was a reporter/photographer for the Washington Evening Journal before moving to Fairfield in 1957. Verl owned and operated a radio - television service. He worked for Crandall's Electric before working many years at Acco-Louden and was an independent field service contractor. Verl retired in 1991 from Agri Industrial Plastic s Co.

Verl was a 50 year member of Mason and past master of Naaman Lodge 613 in Brighton and Clintn Lodge No. 15 in Fairfield. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church where he served as an elder and various committees.

Survivor include his son M. Jay (Lynnette) Koch of Ottumwa,Ia., two daughters Gail Gaus and companion Terry Padgett of Fairfield, Ia. and Jill (Scott) Ripperger of Ames, Ia. two grandsons and one great granddaughter, one sister Leta Chalupa of Washington, Ia.
