Vernon Edward Craft, age 92, passed away Saturday, April 12, 2014 at Jefferson County Health Center, Fairfield, Iowa.
Visitation for family and friends will be Thursday, April 17, 2014, 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm at Behner Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be 10:00 am, Friday, April 18, 2014 at Suburban Heights Baptist Church with Pastor Ed Parker, Rev. Gary Craft and Rev. Richard Dennis officiating. Burial with military rites will be at Memorial Lawn, Ottumwa.

Vernon was born December 28, 1921 in Hastings, Iowa to Henry and Opal (Baker) Craft. He married Mary Lou Canaan September 5, 1946.
He served in the Army during World War II. For the last 67 years he lived in Jefferson County. Vernon farmed and worked as a machinist for 21 years at Rockwell. He was a member of Suburban Heights Baptist Church and served as a Deacon for many years. Vernon was also a member of International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAMAW). In his spare time he enjoyed golfing.
Vernon is survived by his wife of 67 years, Mary Lou Craft of Fairfield, IA; 4 children, Gary (Karen) Craft of Okinawa, Japan, Thomas (Callvina) Craft of Tulsa, OK, Debbie (Richard) Dennis of Smithville, TX and Marianne (Patrick “Timothy”) Tierney of Pembroke, NH; 9 grandchildren, Tabitha McFadden, Tamara Stinnett, Thomas Vernon Craft, Amy Uyechi, Jennifer Daniels, Jessica Dennis, Stephen Tierney, Joanna Preve and Amanda Stettles; and 11 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and 3 brothers, Clayton, Lyle and Don Craft.
