Family visitation was held 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM, Friday, October 14, 2005 at Behner Funeral Home in Fairfield, IA.

Graveside services were held 11:00 AM, Saturday, October 15, 2005 at Fell Cemetery in Libertyville, IA. Rev. Dave Peterson officiated.

Von Gene Maddix was born August 31, 1929 in Libertyville, IA, the son of Aaron Glade and Lorraine (Turpin) Maddix. He lived all his life in Jefferson County, graduating from Libertyville High School. Von was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving his country from 1950-1954. Von was the father of three children; Randy, Becky and April. He enjoyed fishing and was an avid hunter...especially raccoons!

Von was employed for many years at the foundry at Dexter Company. He ran heavy equipment for Schimmelpfennig Construction, erected grain bins with S&R Equipment and also worked for Carl Adamson. Von was a custom combiner along with Melvin Fleig, John Stansberry and others on area farms and on South Dakota farms in season.

His survivors include his children and their families: son Randy Maddix and his wife Susan of Birmingham, IA, and daughters Becky Pohren and her husband Bob of Camdenton, MO and April Swanson and her husband Roy of Packwood, IA. Von was grandfather to Josh A. Pohren, Adam Pohren, Clint Maddix, Anny Pohren and Jessica Burgmeier. Von was great-grandfather to Juliette Pohren.

Survivors include one sister, Mary Dell Griffiths and her husband Harold of Libertyville, IA and a brother, Vern Maddix and wife Marge of Sun City, AZ.

Von is predeceased by his parents.
