Dr. Warren James Morrison, age 96, of Fairfield, passed away Monday, May 28, 2007 at Parkview Care Center in Fairfield, IA. His body will be cremated.
A public memorial service with Masonic Rites was held at 1:30 PM, Wednesday, June 13, 2007 at the First United Methodist Church in Fairfield, IA, with Rev. Dave Peterson officiating.
Private family inurnment will be held in Pittsburg, IA at a later date.

Dr. Warren James Morrison was born December 17, 1910 near Pittsburgh, IA, the first of four children of James E. and Susannah E. (Forbes) Morrison. He spent his childhood on farms near Keosauqua, IA and graduated from Keosauqua High School in 1929. Dr. Morrison taught in rural schools for three years before attending Iowa State University, and graduating from The College of Osteopathic Medicine and Surgery of what is now Des Moines University.
Dr. Morrison was united in marriage to Mary Gertrude Austin on May 4, 1934. With her assistance, he practiced general medicine in Anita, IA for two years and in West Bend, IA for 38 years (the first D.O. to locate there), where they raised two sons.
He took post-graduate training in Amarillo, TX, Kansas City, MO, and Waterloo and Sioux City, IA. He was a staff member of four local area hospitals, and served as chief of staff of Palo Alto County Hospital, chairman of the Palo Alto County Board of Health, and County Medical Examiner.
He retired and moved to Fairfield in 1976. There he joined the Lions Club and continued his 50-year career in the Masons. Dr. Morrison is Past Master of the Blue Lodge, a 32nd degree Mason, a member of the Consistory (confers Masonry Degrees of the Scottish Rite), and KAABA Shrine. He was a life member of the American College of Osteopathic Family Physician, the Iowa Osteopathic Medical Association, and the United Methodist Church, where he served on the church board. He also frequently attended the Howard Johnson Coffee Club and was a member of the NRA.
Dr. Morrison is survived by his sons: Don of Morgantown, West Virginia, and Steven of Emmetsburg, IA. He has six grandchildren as well as seven great-grandchildren. Survivors include two brothers, both of Cresco, IA: Craig and Raymond.
Dr. Morrison was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Mary in 2006, and one brother, Paul Morrison.
