Warren Duncan Switzer

Warren D. Switzer, age 88, of Fairfield, passed away at home, Thursday, May 29, 2008 surrounded by his family.

Following his wishes, cremation was accorded.

Family visitation will be held 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Monday, June 2, 2008 at Behner Funeral Home in Fairfield, IA.

A Celebration of Life service will be held 10:30 AM, Tuesday, June 3, 2008 at Behner Funeral Home with Chaplain Jim Luder officiating. A private family burial will follow at the Switzer Cemetery - Osage Road.

Warren Duncan Switzer was born November 17, 1919 in Fairfield, IA to Clarence David and Annie Elizabeth (Duncan) Switzer. He was united in marriage with Mary Maxine Jones on May 22, 1943 in Fairfield, IA.

Warren farmed in Jefferson and Van Buren counties. He was a member of the First Christian Church, Disciples of Christ in Fairfield and was a member of the Fairfield Clinton Masonic Lodge AF & AM #15 for 50 years. He was also a member of the Eagles Lodge #1927.

Warren is survived by his wife of 65 years, Mary Switzer of Fairfield, and his children and their families: David W. Switzer and wife Carole of Billings, MT, Maxine J. Reed and husband Don of Plano, TX, Kenneth E. Switzer and wife Marilyn of Holton, KS, Charlene L. Munn of Roselle, IL, and Ronald W. Switzer and wife Christy of Fairfield, IA. Warren was blessed with 18 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. Survivors include two sisters: Eloise Rogers of Fairfield, IA and Doris Stukenburg of Ames, IA.

He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Mary Elaine Switzer, brother Frank Switzer and sister, Helen Hird.
