Wilda Downey

Wilda Downey passed away July 20, 2010 at the Van Buren County Hospital.

Funeral Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 24, 2010, at the First United Methodist Church in Fairfield with Rev. Mike Metz officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.

Visitation with family present will be from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Fairfield.

Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church in Fairfield, Iowa.

Wilda Lorene Downey was born April 21, 1915 to Frank and Dollie Schwartz Hoffman. She graduated from Bonaparte High School in 1933. She was married May 24, 1934 to Bennett Cecil Downey. He preceded her in death on Jan 6, 1988.

Wilda was a member of the Methodist Church in Fairfield, Past Matron Fairfield Chapter #39 Order of Eastern Star, Past Mother Advisor of Order of Rainbow for Girls, White Shrine #44 of Fairfield, The Heritage Club 1st National Bank and Libertyville Travelers Club.

Wilda is survived by 3 children; Carolyn Mae Baughman, of Bloomfield, Betty (Lavern) Kline, of Pulaski and B. Charles (Betty) Downey, of Wayzata, Minnesota, 13 grandchildren; Dixie (Stuart) Shelton, Curtis (Mona) Kline, Todd (Shari) Kline, Brenda (Jack) Mincks, Rhonda (Tim) Davis, Kyle (Gala) Baughman, Sandi (Denny) Pierce, Robin (Alvin) Carver, Connie (Mark) Morder, Vicki (Jim) Lough, Kristin (Matt) Troyak, Kelle (Kurt) Bowe and Kate (Ryan) Kelley, 35 great-grandchildren and 13 great-great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were; her parents, husband, 3 sisters; Mildred Lewis, Nellie Meacham and Blanche Hoffman, 2 brothers; Bruce Hoffman and Van Hoffman, a great-granddaughter; Katie Carver and a son-in-law; Jim Baughman.
