Wilda Inez Ferrel

Wilda Inez Ferrel, age 95, passed away Sunday, December 5, 2010 at Van Buren Good Samaritan in Keosauqua.

Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 9, 2010 at Behner Funeral Home with Pastor Nate Nims officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.

Visitation for family and friends will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Thursday, December 9, 2010 at Behner Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Keosauqua Van Buren Good Samaritan. Cards and memorials can be sent to Marcene M. McCarty 2150 236th Blvd. Fairfield, Iowa 52556.

Wilda was born in Davis County, near Floris, Iowa on September 24, 1915 to John and Mabel Moore Huffman. She married Ivyl R. Ferrel on November 28, 1935. He passed away on August 2, 1984.

Wilda lived most of her life in the Libertyville Community. She liked sewing and was a good seamstress for others. She also enjoyed fishing, mushroom hunting, and puzzles and loved her family. Wilda loved chocolates and was nicknamed "Chocolate Grandma".

Wilda is survived by 3 children: Victor (Karla) Ferrel, Phillip (Rose Ann) Ferrel and Marcene McCarty, all of Fairfield, 11 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, 1 son: Paul Ferrel, 1 grandson: Mark Campbell, 1 son-in-law: Bob McCarty, 2 sisters: Thelma Smith and Dorothy McCleary and 3 brothers: Keith Huffman, Donald Huffman and Hollis Huffman.
