William Thomas Fleming

July 22, 1925 — February 21, 2009

William T. Fleming, age 83 of Fairfield, passed away Saturday, February 21, 2009 at Parkview Care Center in Fairfield.

Visitation wil be held from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM, Tuesday, February 24, 2009 at Behner Funeral Home in Fairfield. Funeral services will follow the visitation at 2:00 PM, with Pastor Ed Parker officiating. Interment with Military Rites will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery in Fairfield.

William Thomas Fleming was born July 22, 1925 in Iowa City, IA to Charles Thomas and Jessie Mae (Baines) Fleming. He attended grade school in Kalona, IA and high school in Farson, IA. He was a United States Army Air Force Veteran of WWII where he served as a radioman and technician.

Mr. Fleming was united in marriage with Wilma Grace Turner in Fairfield, IA on June 23, 1945. He lived most of his life in Fairfield, coming from the Kalona area. He was employed by the Universal Producing Company from 1946-1990, and retired as Plant Manager. Bill received a diploma from the National Radio Institute of Washington, DC in 1955, and operated Bill's Radio and Television Shop out of his home for several years. He also enjoyed managing the Agency Roller Rink with his wife, Wilma Grace, from about 1979-1981. Bill liked to fish, bowl, and camp, but his real love was his family.

Surviving Bill are his children and their families: Shirley Brobston and husband Robert of Hamilton, IL, Sandra Olinger and husband Phil of Reno, NV, Mark Fleming and his wife Celeste, of Keokuk, IA, and Randi Larson and husband Ray of Cedar Rapids, IA. William was blessed with ten grandchildren, two step-grandchildren and seven great-grandchidren. Survivors include a brother, Harold Fleming (Tony) of Baxter, TN, and sister Neoma Strode of Ft. Madison, IA.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Wilma; son Gary Fleming; two grandchildren, Emily and David Fleming; two brothers, Richard Fleming, and Charles Fleming, Jr.; and a sister, Orris Irene Fleming.
