Wilson D. "Bill" Skaggs, age 79 of Birmingham, IA, passed away February 23, 2008 at the University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics in Iowa City, IA.

Family visitation will be from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Tuesday, February 26, 2008 at Behner Funeral Home in Fairfield, IA.

Funeral Services for Wilson D. "Bill" Skaggs will be 10:30 AM, Wednesday, February 27, 2008 at Birmingham United Methodist Church in Birmingham with Pastor Michael Renken officiating. Burial with military rites performed by Haney-Branan Post #181 of Birmingham will be in Spencer Cemetery near Stockport, IA.

Memorials may be made to Birmingham Fire Department, Birmingham Lions Club or Jefferson County Dialysis Unit. Cards and memorials by be sent c/o:

Wilson D. "Bill" Skaggs was born April 11, 1928 to Crawford H. and Emma Peplow Skaggs. He married Anna Belle Clark an August 19, 1950 in Memphis , MO.

Bill graduated from Birmingham High School and lived most of his life in the Birmingham area. He was a farmer and owned and operated Skaggs Trucking for over 50 years. Bill was past president and a Charter member of Birmingham Lions Club, a member of Birmingham American Leigon and 40-8 Past Commanders, and a member of Birmingham United Methodist Church. Bill's hobbies included coaching baseball, Hawkeye basketball, St. Louis Cardinals, AC Tractors, and International Tractors. He was a US Army Veteran serving during the Korean Conflict.

Surviving Bill are his wife, Anna Belle Skaggs of Birmingham, IA, one daughter and one son and spouses: Karen (Gene) Crawford of Fairfield, IA and Kriss (Ann) Skaggs of Birmingham, IA, three grandchildren Sean (Nikki) Crawford of Fairfield, IA , Jill (Jim) Silvers of Ollie, IA, and Justin Coffin of Oskaloosa, IA, and three great-grandsons: Hayden Crawford, Ian and Arron Silvers. Survivors include two sisters and one brother: Katherine Pfeifer, Dora McWhirter, and Howard Skaggs all of Birmingham, IA.

Preceeding Bill were his parents, two sisters: Wilda Booth and Betty Darlene Skaggs, and two brothers: Lyle and Jim Skaggs.
